No shoot zone
In Stafford County, VA, a "No-Shoot Zone" is a designated area in which discharging or firing a firearm (or in some cases pneumatic weapons) is illegal, subject to county ordinance. These zones include densely populated or built-up areas (for example, within certain subdivisions or near public roads) where safety concerns make shooting hazardous. The county code (Sec. 26-17 and 26-18) defines the boundaries of these zones (such as parts of Garrisonville, Lake Arrowhead, Aquia Harbour, South Stafford, etc.). These zones do not apply to navigable waterways such as Aquia Creek. Violating these restrictions - i.e. firing a weapon in a no-shoot zone-is considered unlawful and can lead to criminal charges. Please refer to the map below for locations of no-shoot zones.
