Chief of Police

Chief Bryan Cameron brings more than a decade of dedicated service to the field of law enforcement, blending extensive operational expertise with a steadfast commitment to community outreach and public safety. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has served in a variety of critical roles, including Patrol Officer, Major Crimes Investigator, and Gangs and Narcotics Task Force Officer. Chief Cameron joined the Aquia Harbour Police Department in 2022 as a Patrol Officer and quickly rose through the ranks, first as Patrol Sergeant, then Major of Operations, and, in October 2023, as Chief of Police. This diverse background provides him with a deep understanding of frontline policing, advanced tactical operations, and effective police leadership.

Chief Cameron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Management, graduating Summa Cum Laude with his Master’s. He is also a graduate of the New Chiefs Training School through the Virginia Chiefs of Police Association, equipping him with the skills and insight to guide the department into the future. From the very start of his career, Chief Cameron distinguished himself by graduating at the top of his police academy class and earning the coveted Top Overall Award. His exemplary service has since been recognized with multiple honors, including the Officer of the Year Award, a Meritorious Service Award, and an Outstanding Integrity Award.

In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Chief Cameron maintains a broad portfolio of specialized certifications, including Firearms Instructor, General Instructor, Field Training Officer, SWAT Operator, Armorer, TASER Instructor, OC Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, and Red Dot Pistol Instructor. These credentials underscore his commitment to officer development, advanced training standards, and operational excellence.

As Chief of Police, Chief Cameron oversees all police services with a strategic focus on professional development, reducing the fear of crime, and fostering a safe and vibrant community. He champions technological innovation, promotes a culture of accountability, and actively cultivates future leadership, ensuring the department remains progressive, adaptable, and responsive to community needs.
